The Know with Nikki Spo description:
Bethany Webster is a writer, international speaker and transformational coach. She started blogging in 2013 about the Mother Wound and quickly experienced worldwide demand for her work. Through blending research on intergenerational trauma, feminist theory, and psychology with her own personal story, Bethany’s work is the result of decades of research and her own journey of healing. Bethany speaks, consults and mentors around the world sharing her growing body of work that is raising the standard of women’s leadership and personal development. In this two-part series, Nikki and Bethany cover the many layers of healing our Mother Wounds. They cover societal patriarchy and how women are affected by it, and how the social norms of past generations can affect mother-daughter relationships today. Bethany guides us on how we can shift our mindsets to a positive place and how we can be our happiest selves throughout this very specific and necessary healing journey. We do not realize how many men and women are affected by their mothers, no matter where they may fall on the mother wound spectrum. Bethany and Nikki help us normalize these wounds and guide us on how we can heal.
In PART TWO of this two-part series, Bethany and Nikki continue their empowering talk about the Mother Wound. Bethany discusses the by-product of the “Inner Mothering” as a way to create a bond of safety with the child inside of you. She addresses filling the “mother gap” of what you may not have received from your mother, and, over time, feel safe enough to be sovereign. When comforting our inner child, we can overcome patriarchal mandates that have been instilled in society. Nikki and Bethany talk about guilt and how women are taught to internalize this. We must validate our feelings and feel more fierce so that we can actively speak our truth.
